Entry Epik High - Umbrella (feat. Younha) diVERiT
entry Yesterday, 09:07 AM

Dark and gloomy is Epik High's new music video for Umbrella featuring Younha. Epik High's own Tablo tries at some acting in this break-up-then-get-back storyline.

"Umbrella" was well-received by fans and labeled as one of the better songs of Epik High's fifth album with its mix of a melancholy chorus and catchy sing-rap style.

The music video utilizes the metaphoric symbols of 'rain' and 'umbrella' and transcribes them literally, having Tablo and his female counterpart soak in rain. Of course, there is a happy ending - this isn't an SG Wannabe video.

What I find more interesting is how hip-hop Tablo linked up with pop-rock Younha. Enough for a hint-hint at something? Probably not. Let's just enjoy the music.

ShowHow, under their previous name Trespass, was featured in several of FTTS songs including 'Kissing You', '가벼운 사랑', etc. Their title song, New Day, features Fly To The Sky's Brian.

It's about puppy, happy love. Guy likes girl. Can't express. Something happens. Happy ending.

Brian comes out with a hairdo stolen from Hwanhee.

So, yeah. Here it is.

Fan Polarity: The Female Phenomena

Why do fangirls (zealous female fans) polarize themselves to one singer or group? What is wrong with liking both or all groups? Mind you, this is a generalization of female fans but one that stems from common occurrence.

With guy fans, fan polarity occurs less often. Guys can like both Girl's Generation (SNSD) and Wondergirls. Fan-girls find it necessary to like one group and hate the other. When I say "hate," I mean absolute, curse-you-to-hell hatred. They will go out of their way to post malicious comments on every available topic or news article on their object of repulsion. "Girl's Generation is a bunch of ugly, plastic robots that have horrible songs." "Wondergirls should stop trying to sing and die, especially Sohee."

I should note that I understand that people have a general disliking of certain singers or genre of music. For instance, if I dislike country music, I dislike all country music. I do not love one country singer and hate another because of a supposed rivalry. I can also understand if you dislike one individual/group for reasons not originating from a "rivalry" with "your" singer. The fan polarity I speak of is the tendency of female fans to love one group and hate another group that are all branded similarly. They are both girl groups or boy bands or ballad singers or rockers. If you must, care for one and simply ignore the other. Why do you have to love one and actively hate the other?

Perhaps this is just a stage of growth that emanates from pubescent highschool drama. I've noticed this phenomena commonly occur for girls from ages 12-17 when they start loving boys and hate girls for loving their boys; the stage in life where a falling leaf can be the topic of laughter and a poke in the shoulder be the cause for irreparable rifts between friendships.
Or perhaps this is simply one manifestative form of humanity's tendency to pick sides - democrat or republican, liberal or conservative.

So reader, who in all likelihood is a polarized fangirl, I don't care what you do, so long as you don't mess with my oppa-deuls.
